Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment Courses

Takoma Academy offers Advanced Placement courses, and partners with various universities to provide Dual Enrollment courses to our students.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are designed for students who excel scholastically in certain areas or are motivated and interested in taking a more rigorous academic course load. Consideration for students interested in taking AP courses is based on an essay response, teacher recommendation, and GPA. At the end of the each AP course, students take an AP Exam—standardized exam that measures mastery of the course content. Students who do well on AP Exams can earn credit and/or placement into advanced courses in college.

Courses offered are:
  • AP English Language
  • AP English Literature
  • AP Biology
  • AP World History
  • AP US History
  • AP Government
  • AP Spanish

Dual Enrollment courses provide students an opportunity to enroll into college courses to earn dual credit. Students must complete a course enrollment form and submit it to administration for approval.
  • Dual Enrollment request forms for Andrews University and Oakwood University must be submitted to Mrs. Campbell.
  • Dual Enrollment request forms for Washington Adventist University must be submitted to Mrs. Collins
